STM partners in launch of community center and daycare – thanks to you!

Second Table Ministries (STM) has connected with an amazing couple, Desiree and Peter Fisher, from Mookgophong, South Africa. Peter is a Pastor/Counselor and Desiree a trained Early Childhood Development teacher. They’ve moved from Johannesburg to serve the poorest of the poor people in the settlements of Mookgophong in the rural Province of Limpopo. They have started a small church, first in a tent and now, on land given by the municipality. With their own funds they’ve erected a corrugated metal church/kitchen/multipurpose center.

Services they are providing include counseling, a drop in center, community garden, church, and a crèche for orphans and vulnerable children. But they need help to get this underway and to achieve sustainability.

Desiree and Peter Fisher

STM is always on the search for Christian “champions” who have a dream to serve people in need, and the motivation and commitment to make it happen. The Fishers definitely qualify.

This is the beginning they have made, all with their own resources:

Every cent stretched as far as it can go in Christian service.
Simple and functional approach to nurturing young children mentally, physically and spiritually.

STM has provided $6,000 with an additional $4,000 to be matched by South African donors. We’ve also helped them get $2,500 in funding from our local Poulsbo Rotary. We are working with them to connect with churches, Rotary clubs, government, and business and private donors in South Africa. The goal is for them to be able to function independently by the end of 2017.

This is just one of the ways your gifts to STM are being used to follow Jesus’ call to serve our neighbors in need.

Would you be willing to help us with projects such as this by making a regular monthly gift?

Would you be willing to pass this newsletter on to a friend or family member encouraging them to consider partnering with us as well?

I thought so. Thanks.
